DualRate Case Study

UX Design
Project Overview
The goal was to design an app and a responsive website to help global travelers find the current exchange rates between two currencies. They can also use this information to quickly and easily exchange currencies. The problem was that travelers often struggle to quickly find, up-to-date exchange rates, especially when moving between multiple countries.
My Contributions
The course assigned me to make an app and responsive website for this prompt. So I came up with DualRate that would calculate the currency and a map that would show you were exchange machines or places are. I added a different font to make it stand out more pleasing for users. Then I added connections between the screens, Finally I did the same for the responsive website.

Research and Insights

Travelers want, simple fast access to accurate rates.
Competing apps are often cluttered or hide key information.
Users prefer clean interfaces with minimal steps to conversation.
Accessibility and mobile first design were major priorities.

User Journey Map

Wireframes Low Fidelity Mockups

I began the design process with paper wireframes to quickly explore multiple layout options. This allowed me to test different approaches before committing to one direction. From there I translated the strongest concepts into low-fidelity digital wireframes, which helped refine navigation and overall structure.

High Fidelity Mockup

The final product is a cross platform solution (app and responsive website) that helps travelers quickly check and convert exchange rates. The clean interface consistent design system, and simple conversation tool to make the process fast and stress free.

Outcome and Reflection

The outcome was that DualRate provides travelers with a trustworthy tool for quick, reliable, and easy currency exchange information. A reflection  is a consistent design system across mobile and responsive website increased usability. I would improve by adding offline capabilities for travelers without internet. I learned that iterating from sketches to high fidelity mockup and prototype designs that made the final product stronger, and testing interactivity.
